Lawn season is when Pakistan’s wardrobes are at their most colourful and the weather is at its least forgiving. Printed cotton, 40-degree afternoons and long commutes are hard on jewellery and hard on anyone wearing too much of it.
Why summer changes the rules
- Heat makes metal uncomfortable. Wide bangles and heavy necklaces hold warmth against skin.

As a general guide, cool colours like blue, mint and grey sit well with silver tones, and warm colours like mustard, coral and red sit well with gold. Neither is a rule, and mixing gold and silver is perfectly fine when it is done on purpose.
The summer lawn kit

Studs and small hoops are comfortable all day; jhumkas are better for a few hours at a time.
Necklaces: less than you think
In high summer, many women skip necklaces with lawn altogether, and that is a completely reasonable choice. End-of-day habits in lawn season
Take jewellery off as soon as you are home, wipe it with a dry cloth, and let it air on a tray before putting it away. Plated pieces should not go into a closed box damp with sweat. In the monsoon, a sachet of silica gel in the jewellery box helps a lot.
One more practical point for the season: lawn gets washed often, and jewellery left pinned to a dupatta or tucked in a kameez pocket ends up in the washing machine. Make a habit of emptying pockets and unpinning brooches before anything goes in the laundry basket.
