Bangles and rings are the most useful jewellery gifts for a sister, because they suit eastern clothes, work for Eid and weddings, and can be added to over the years. For Eid, a pair of bangles or a stacking ring is enough. For her wedding, choose something she will wear after the functions rather than another heavy set. For a birthday, go by her age and what she actually wears.
Sisters also have an advantage no one else on your list has: you can open her jewellery box without explaining yourself. Most of the sizing problems in other gift guides do not apply here.
Buy for her taste, not your shared wardrobe
Sisters borrow from each other constantly, and the easy mistake is to buy something you would like to borrow. Look at what she chooses when she dresses for herself: gold tone or silver, delicate or bold, bangles or rings. If her taste and yours differ, follow hers.
Eid
- Bangles are the obvious Eid gift for a reason. Choose a colour or tone that works with her Eid suit — asking what colour it is gives nothing away.

- If she stacks glass churiyan with metal bangles, add two metal bangles in her tone. They will be worn with everything she already owns.
- If she wears one or two thin rings on most days, add a stacking band with a little texture or a single small stone.
- If she wears a kara on one wrist, a ring is better than another bangle, which would compete with it.
- If you have no idea, look at her hands in recent family photographs. The evidence is usually there.

Getting the size right
