Address and phone tips that get a COD parcel delivered first time

To get a COD parcel delivered first time in Pakistan, write the address from specific to general with a well-known landmark, include the block, phase or sector exactly as locals say it, and give a phone number that will be on and answered during the day. Most failed deliveries come from an unanswered call or an address the rider cannot place, and after a limited number of attempts the parcel is usually returned to the seller.

How a rider actually finds you

A rider has a run of many parcels, a route through an area they usually know, and a phone. They do not read your address like a postman. They look for the area, head to the nearest landmark they recognise, and call you. So your address has two jobs: get the rider to the right neighbourhood, and give them something to aim for once they are there.

The order to write it in

1. 1House, flat or shop number, and the building or house name if it has one.
2. 2Street or lane number, or its local name.
3. 3Block, phase, sector or mohallah, written the way people in the area say it.
4. 4Housing society or neighbourhood name.
5. 5Nearest landmark: a mosque, school, hospital, bank branch, petrol pump or well-known shop.
6. 6City, and for smaller places the tehsil and district.

Landmarks that work, and ones that do not

• Good: mosques, schools, hospitals, bank branches, petrol pumps, parks, well-known bakeries and chain stores. They are permanent and everyone knows them.
• Useful: bus stops, chowks and roundabouts with names, markets, government offices.
• Weak: “near the big tree”, “opposite the green gate”, “next to Uncle’s shop”. Meaningful to you, not to someone arriving for the first time.
• Risky: shops that have recently opened or closed, or temporary stalls.

The phone number matters more than the address

Even a vague address usually gets delivered if the rider can call you. A perfect address often does not if they cannot.

• Give the number you actually carry during the day, not an old SIM in a drawer or a dual-SIM slot you keep switched off.
• Turn off any setting that silences or screens unknown callers while you are expecting a parcel. Riders call from numbers you will not recognise.
• Answer unknown numbers for a few days, or at least call back promptly. Riders may try only briefly before moving on.
• Add a second number in the order notes, such as a family member at home, and tell them a parcel is coming.
• If you work somewhere phones are not allowed, say so and give a number that can be answered, or choose a delivery address where someone is available.

We confirm orders by call or WhatsApp before dispatch, and that confirmation is also the moment to correct an address or add a landmark. If you miss it, message us with your order number rather than waiting.

Share a location pin if you can

Many riders use WhatsApp. If the rider or seller asks, sending a location pin can remove all guesswork, especially in new housing societies or areas where streets are unnamed. Keep the written address complete anyway, because the pin does not always reach the person holding the parcel.

What happens on reattempts

If the rider cannot deliver, the parcel is usually marked with a reason, such as no answer or address not found, and taken back to the courier office. Couriers generally try again, often the next working day, but only a limited number of times, and the exact policy varies. After the attempts run out, the parcel is sent back to the seller, which looks exactly like a refused parcel from their side.

• Check your order status on the track-order page if you have not heard anything when you expected delivery.
• If you missed a call, message the seller with your order number and a good time to deliver. They can pass it to the courier.
• If you will be away, say so before dispatch so the order can be held rather than sent into a failed attempt.
• Do not place the same order again to “restart” it. You will end up with two parcels and a refusal.

At the door

• Have the cash ready, close to the exact amount. Riders often carry limited change.
• If someone else will receive it, make sure they know the amount and that the parcel is expected.
• Check that the name on the label is yours and the amount matches your order before paying.
